Terms of Service
1. What Pathway to Success is
We operate a marketplace that connects high-school students with paid local work. We are not an employer, employment agency, or party to the work agreement. Job posters and students (through their guardians) contract with one another; we provide the platform, vetting, and payment rails.
2. Eligibility
- Students must be enrolled in a participating school, meet the academic standard (a 3.0 GPA minimum), and have a linked guardian who has granted consent.
- Guardians must be the parent or legal guardian of the student they consent for, and must be 18 or older.
- Job posters must be 18 or older, complete identity verification, and be approved by an administrator before posting.
- Administrator accounts are created by invitation only.
3. Guardian consent and control
No student may accept work until a guardian has granted consent. A guardian may pause their student or revoke consent at any time, which immediately stops new job matching. Guardians receive all wages earned by their student and are the account holder of record for payout and tax purposes.
4. Job posters' obligations
- Provide a safe, lawful work environment and accurate job descriptions.
- Do not post work that is prohibited for minors under applicable child-labor law — including, among others, operating power-driven equipment such as mowers, trimmers and edgers, which is prohibited for anyone under 16.
- Never ask a student to travel outside the posted job location, work outside the posted hours, or accept payment outside the platform.
- Confirm completion honestly. Reporting a false problem or no-show to avoid payment is grounds for removal.
5. Students' obligations
- Submit truthful academic records. Falsifying a report card results in removal from the platform.
- Show up for accepted work, check in on site, and complete the job as described.
- Leave immediately and tell your guardian if a job feels unsafe or differs from what was posted.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. When a job is assigned, the poster's payment method is authorized for the job total. Funds are captured only when the poster confirms the work is complete. Wages are then transferred to the guardian's connected payout account. The poster covers all processing fees, so the advertised wage is the amount the guardian receives, less the platform fee disclosed at the time of the job.
7. Disputes
If a poster reports a problem, the job enters administrative review and no money moves until an administrator resolves it — either capturing payment or releasing the authorization. Our decision on platform-mediated disputes is final for the purposes of the platform.
8. Safety and prohibited conduct
You may not harass, endanger, or attempt to contact a student outside the platform; circumvent guardian consent; arrange off-platform payment; or misrepresent your identity. We may suspend or remove any account at any time to protect students.
9. No warranty; limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is." We vet posters and provide safety tooling, but we do not control the conduct of users and are not responsible for the work performed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post changes here. Questions: admin@pathwaytosucceed.com.
